We picked Tall Pines because of a few good reviews and their website made it sound like an ideal place for us to spend a week. I think we were disappointed because in the area where our site was, the campers were stacked on top of one another with no more than 10 feet from our awning. Our site took on water when it rained as the concrete pad we had to park next to sloped in and not away from the door. The bathhouse in our area was unacceptable: the toilet rocked if you sat down on it and it lacked a door for privacy. The rest of the bathhouse did not look like anyone cleaned it. The "new" bathouse by the office was clean and seemed recently built. The seasonal people two sites over must have thought they had the right to walk through our site: until I sat outside with our 85lb dog! The owners had cats that when we were getting ice cream, the cat was walking on the counter right over the open ice cream case ?? That was a turn off. All in all, it wasn't what we expected.
We stayed in the D Section on site D-26 and found our site to be very comfortable. If it wasn't for the steep hill, we would have given Oak Creek a 10 ! The staff was very friendly and professional. They have a nice well stocked store that is reasonably priced an offers most anything you could need. The restrooms were exceptionaly clean and well maintained. During our stay we had heavy rain that washed out the gravel on a few of the roads. The staff immediately responded with fresh gravel and a tractor to regrade the roads effected. We would definately stay with them again.
We stayed there for the annual Warrensburg Worlds Largest Garage Sale, and the site we had was perfect. This is the 4th year on a row we stayed there and really don't have any complaints. The camp store looks like everything was being sold out, compared to the previous owners who had it well stocked with supplies and souvenirs.
The campground was very clean and the staff wasted no time cleaning the sites once campers vacated. The sites were big and easy to access. The bathrooms/showers were very clean and well maintained. The camp store was well stocked, ice cream was very good ! The menu for food at the camp store offered a nice variety and was reasonably priced. The kids enjoyed the waterslide , 5 rides for $5, or $20 for the day.
We've camped at Alpine Lake before and have always been satisfied with the site we had. It is a good size campground with several seasonal sites that are well maintained. There is a lot to do for the kids, plus some real good fishing. The only negative thing i could say was that i was very surprised to see how fast some of the seasonal campers drive in spite of the speed bumps. Overall, i would highly recommend Alpine Lake.
Sunsetview is a well run and very clean campground. When we arrived to check in, we were escorted by staff to our site. I thought that was going above and beyond, very professional! The restrooms are spotless and well maintained. The camp store was well stocked and reasonably priced. The only bad thing i could say is the seasonal camper across the street did not deal with her two dogs as they constantly barked. When we checked out i informed the staff and she said if i had mentioned it to them before, they would have done something. I have no doubt that they would have. We would definitely stay here again.
The family that owns the campground are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. It is a small campground, but it is everything the website claims. It is quiet and peaceful, with a nice hiking trail. The only bad thing i could say is the gnats were heavy the weekend we stayed there, but that comes with the territory. We've stayed there before, and would stay there again as it is close to home when we can only get away for a short stay.
